We were approached by our client who had a problem at one of their sites.
YE needed to carry out some essential maintenance work to their HV transformer but due to the age and condition of our clients' switch gear they were unable to complete the work. YE gave our client a timescale which they had to meet otherwise they would turn the power off to the entire site.
We found the substation to be in a very poor condition, both the building itself and the switchgear within. The main switch and several of the switch fuses to sub boards did not operate.
We took on the project and sourced suitable replacement bespoke switchgear and liaised with YE for them to replace the metering equipment and ISU. We also arranged for builders to repair the structure of the building and make the roof waterproof. We installed new distribution equipment, lighting power and heating to the substation.
We arranged with our client for a suitable time to shut down the power, liaising at all times with their tenants to ensure everything ran as smoothly as possible. At the arranged time we removed the existing switchgear, had the new switchgear put into place and connected all the existing sub mains circuits.
With the above work completed within the time scales given by YE the risk of loss of power was removed.
